Buffalo Regals 14U TB

Welcome to the Jungle of Girls hockey in WNY 2024-2025.  For those of you who don't know me, my name is Scott Then, and I will be the Girls 14u TB coach.  With every association doing the same thing every year and advertising a team, it makes it hard on you, the parents, to figure out what is actually best for your daughter.  Hopefully I can help you with that. Each kid responds differently, and many times the coach just isn't a fit for a player. But it takes a versatile coach to overcome that challenge, and 20+ years of coaching girls' and women's hockey helps me do just that.  I know coaches say they will get your daughter to the "next level", my only question is, how sure can someone be of that, if you don't know what the next level is, since you haven't been there.

A little background for you:

20+ years of coaching girls and women's hockey at all levels.

• 8  trips to USA Hockey Nationals ( National Champions x2, Semi Finalist x1)
• Multiple NYS tournament appearances and Champions
• Multiple Empire State Games Gold and Silver Medalist
• Over 20 former players that moved on to college hockey at all levels

All of this while I had the opportunity of a lifetime to learn from two of the best girls hockey coaches to ever come from Buffalo, NY.

Our teams always have female assistant coaches involved, usually former players who come back to coach with me. I also routinely have current or former (female)  Professional, Div 1, Div 3, or National team players stop in throughout the season to give the girls an opportunity to skate with and learn from their role models. My off-ice trainer this year will be a former (female) Div 3 player, and current Women's College Ice Hockey trainer, who I have had the pleasure of coaching after her college career was over. For specialty coaching, I will also have a Female Goalie coach, who I have worked with for the last 5 years, and does wonders with my goalies. This year I was also able to have a former player join me through the USA Hockey Student Coaching program, and most likely will be returning for this season, something you don't see in WNY on the girls side of things.

This will be a true tryout, no spots have been guaranteed or pre-arranged, with a non- parent coaching group.
